Accessibility Statement

Adult & Child Counseling & Psychiatric Center, PA is committed to making our website accessible to people with disabilities. We believe that everyone should be able to find information about our practice, our clinicians, and our services, regardless of the assistive technologies they use.

We design and test this website against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 Level AA includes everything in WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services incorporates by reference at 45 CFR 84.84 and applies to us through Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act at 45 CFR 92.204. WCAG 2.1 Level AA is also the benchmark most commonly cited in website accessibility claims brought under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Current status: partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means most of this site meets the standard, and the exceptions we know about are listed in Known Limitations below. We do not claim this site is fully accessible or fully compliant, because no site is finished and we would rather tell you what is not working than promise you that everything is.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We test key pages regularly, work with our development partners to remediate issues as we discover them, and design new content with accessibility in mind from the start. We do not use third-party accessibility overlay widgets; these tools have been shown to overstate their effect and can interfere with the assistive technologies people actually rely on.

This site was last reviewed on September 1, 2026 by our web development partner, building on reviews completed August 14, 2026, July 31, 2026, and July 8, 2026. Those reviews covered page structure, code, and behavior in the browser, and included:

• A review of the heading structure, landmarks, and page semantics that screen readers use to navigate.
• A check that every interactive element is a standard control a keyboard can reach and operate.
• Measurement of the contrast between text and its background, and between links and the text around them, against the WCAG 2.2 Level AA thresholds.
• A check that the language of each page, and of any passage written in another language, is correctly declared so assistive technology reads it in the right voice.
• An automated accessibility scan of the site's main pages at both phone and desktop widths.
• A check that the page still works when text is enlarged to 200% and 400%, and that nothing has to be scrolled sideways to read.
• A check that the site remains usable with the operating system's high-contrast setting turned on, and that animation is reduced when a visitor has asked their device to reduce motion.
• A check that a keyboard cannot become trapped, or move to something hidden behind an open menu.

We re-review this site whenever we make a substantial change to it, and at least once a year regardless.

• Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element we build is a standard link or button that a keyboard can reach and operate, and a “skip to content” link is the first thing you reach. The one exception is the embedded map described under Known Limitations below.
• Semantic HTML structure that exposes headings, links, and landmarks to screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack).
• Descriptive alternative text on images that convey information, and empty alternative text on images that are purely decorative, so screen readers skip them.
• Text and background colors chosen to meet the WCAG 2.2 Level AA contrast thresholds of 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and user interface components.
• Responsive layout that supports zooming and reflowing content on smaller screens.
• A declared language on every page, and on each translated notice, so screen readers announce content in the correct voice.
• Respect for your system's reduced-motion setting. If you have asked your device to minimize animation, the entrance animations, loading placeholders, and smooth scrolling on this site are turned off.

We publish the barriers we know about so you are not left guessing. As of the review date above:

• The Google Maps view embedded on our homepage and our contact page is provided by Google and is not fully operable by keyboard. Our full address, phone number, and written directions appear as text on the same page, and we will give directions by phone on request.
• The patient portal and our secure email service are operated by outside vendors. We have not independently tested them, and they may not meet the same standard as this site. Call our office and we will complete anything the portal is used for.
